Why a little Arabic changes the outcome
In most Gulf interviews the working language is English. But candidates who open and close in Arabic are consistently remembered. It reads as commitment to staying, not just to earning.
Open strong
Two sentences are enough to reset the tone of the room.
- • as-salaamu alaykum, tasharrafna — peace be upon you, pleased to meet you
- • shukran ala hadhihi al-fursa — thank you for this opportunity
- • atakallam al-arabiyya qaleelan wa atadarrab yawmiyyan — I speak a little Arabic and practise daily
Close with intent
End by naming the next step in Arabic. It is a small act of confidence that most candidates skip entirely.
